Fic: I See France

  • Jun. 20th, 2012 at 6:36 PM
toomuchplor: (arthur wtf face)
Fandom: Inception
Rating: Teen (for language, pretty much)
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 1000 words, ish.

Summary: Arthur likes to think of it as gallantry; Eames mostly just thinks it's cute.

A/N: Warning: (skip) Because today we got talking about boys in dresses and panties on Twitter, and also because [personal profile] xenakis thought it would be a cool way to approach the canonical nature of Eames' gender queer identity. N.B. - while I fully support crossdressing kink, this fic is not a kink fic. It's just about an Eames who likes to wear dresses and make-up and heels sometimes, and an Arthur who loves him.

A brief word of explanation...

  • Jun. 12th, 2012 at 9:30 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
...for anyone who doesn't follow me on Twitter. Or who does, but has me filtered out because I tweet a lot about my niece. (Fair. I'll allow it.)

I've finally just posted the two last big pieces of the Steinway!Verse, making the grand total wordcount break through the 150K mark. (I...cannot actually process that.) In any case, these are the fics most requested in the comments after I posted the mid-point Cobb wedding sadfic of DOOM: namely, the one where they break up and (better yet) the one where they get back together. Both are quite angsty. Sorry about that. *coughIblamemybetaLately*

Be sure, by the way, to read these two big-ass stories in the order posted here, i.e. I Will Forget the Light first, and then Du bist die Ruh. I suppose you could reverse the order, but why multiply the angst? :P

One last thing - while this does mark the last of the major instalments I had planned/plotted, I am not necessarily calling this 'verse completed as it stands. Your curiosity should be satisfied, I hope, by these two pieces -- but I don't intend to close the door on writing more Steinway. (In fact, I have at least two or three ficlets in progress -- active progress -- even as I type this.)

Thanks to all of you who've come along for this ride, who have shared your feedback along the way, and who are still here to finally finish out this last flourish with me. ♥ you all.

Steinway Fic: Du bist die Ruh

  • Jun. 12th, 2012 at 8:48 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Fandom: Inception
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 21,400 words

Summary: Takes place in the Steinway!Verse, after Whither Thou Goest.

"There are no shortcuts to any place worth going" ~ Beverly Sills

Doing the same thing over and over while expecting different results is a good working definition of insanity.

Warnings/Content Notes: (skip) References to and plot points around mental illness, mental breakdown, post partum depression, and threatened harm to children (though no serious injury to children.) Read at your own discretion!

Read the story on AO3 or below the cut here on Dreamwidth.

Steinway Fic: I Will Forget the Light

  • Jun. 12th, 2012 at 8:34 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Fandom: Inception
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames, Arthur/OMC, Eames/implied others
Length: 26,700 words

Summary: Set in the Steinway!Verse, after Chantant sur le mode mineur.

“The piano is a monster that screams when you touch its teeth.” ~ Andre Segovia

Coming unravelled in your senior year is practically a tradition at the conservatory. Arthur's never been one to do things by halves.

Content Notes: Contains references to musician injury, open relationships, long distance relationship (failure), insomnia, and huge amounts of senior-year angst. Musicians live large, and that carries over to pain too, I'm afraid. All I can say is: in the grand scheme of things, the boys get their happy ending. But you already knew that if you've read the previous fics.

Steinway Fic: Gradus ad Parnassum

  • Jun. 6th, 2012 at 10:00 PM
toomuchplor: (eames pretty)
Fandom: Inception
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Rating: Teen
Length: 900 words

Summary: Composition is a discipline, every bit as much as playing the piano ever was.

A/N: Another one that [personal profile] xenakis resurrected from Gmail, bless her. Set in the Steinway 'Verse, a couple of years after Arthur reveals he's been composing. Title is from a very famous music theory text by a dude named Fux. Can't make this shit up, yo.

Read it on AO3 here or skip the queue and click on the cut-tag below:

Whoa, somehow I managed to post three fics without telling LJ/DW about it. What is this new era in which we live? (Also, I just seriously struggled to make that 'era' and not 'ear', and I'm giggling over the image of living in a new ear.)

Rating: G
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 2000 words
Summary: Arthur can also name every single character in the Night Garden. (Yes, even the Pontipines and the Haahoos.)

A/N: It's a Five Things fic in the Schmoop!Bomb series.

Five little monkeys (jumping on the bed)

Rating: G
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 191 words
Summary: Arthur's crowning glory, much to his dismay.

A/N: For [personal profile] lately. Just a (very) little ficlet I wrote in an email.

Rating: Teen (mostly for language)
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 1500 words
Summary: It's probably a good thing Arthur doesn't go round armed when he's in the waking world.

A/N: For my poor dear [personal profile] xenakis, who had a similar human-bike-car collision and is now sporting her own road rash half-beard. *pets her very gently*

Fic: Infectious

  • Apr. 19th, 2012 at 9:22 AM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Rating: General (but with swearing)
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 700 words
Summary: Fact: this couch has never heard of scotchguard.

A/N: For [personal profile] xenakis, because I missed out on the couch snuggles on my first birthday fic go-round and some wrongs must be righted. Also, this fic makes it clear that in addition to me thinking flatulence is comedy gold, I apparently cannot resist having a character list off improbable disease risks in a fit of hypochondria.

Fic: The Sanctity of Patience

  • Apr. 18th, 2012 at 7:07 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 4400 words
Warnings: None, really. It's less angsty and more moody than anything.
Summary: Arthur sketches the impossible. Eames does some manscaping. It's just another job, until it isn't.

A/N: For [personal profile] xenakis on the occasion of her birthday. Thanks to [personal profile] lately for handholding and sending :O emoticons at all the right moments.

Title is from Fairytale by Sara Bareilles, though the song has little to do with the fic.

Unkissed Fic: Instep

  • Mar. 2nd, 2012 at 11:09 AM
toomuchplor: (eames pretty)
Fandom: Inception/TDKR RPF
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Joe/Tom
Length: 5000 words

A/N: In Unkissed 'verse, set some time after You Yes You. Came about entirely because [personal profile] lately wanted me to write French cabaret RPF and I was too lazy to do the requisite research.

Content Notes: Contains lots & lots of kinks, including shoe/foot fetish, fetish/burlesque wear, crossdressing, gender fuckery/queerness, feminizing talk, D/s overtones, (accidental) breathplay, and (hints of) spanking, as well as your more run-of-the-mill gay sex. All that being said, the basic tone of the fic is that Tom convinces Joe to try something, and Joe likes it more than he expected. Based off wild and completely unsubstantiated conjecture regarding the kinks of those involved and not, in any way, meant to reflect real life. (Unless, of course, you want to read something into Tom's oft-quoted passion for women's shoes and Joe's propensity to crossdress. *cough*)

IBB Coda: Felix Culpa

  • Feb. 27th, 2012 at 10:23 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 2800 words
Summary: Eames probably would have been pleased with a sandwich, but Arthur's got a knack for making Eames happy in surprising ways.

A/N: Missing scene of sorts from Oh, the Places You'll Go!. Sextra, really, from Eames' POV.

The last of the IBB codas written before I actually posted my IBB. Yay!

Rating: Mature
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 3600 words

Oops, I forgot to post here when I put the last coda up. So! Two at once!

These are both in my "Nearly Home" 'verse, aka unrepentant schmoop. Consider yourself warned.

Rating: G
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 600 words
Summary: Arthur may be caving on the whole concept of "sleep-training".

Sixty Minutes (on AO3)

Rating: Teen-ish, mostly for language
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 1900 words
Summary: Having a preschooler is a lot like living with a drunken angry dwarf who doesn't speak English.

IBB Coda: Onto Me

toomuchplor: (Default)
So I have a few codas for my IBB stored up, and I'll be posting them every few days until I run out. I also connected the dots between my IBB and a little bb!fic snippet I wrote back in the fall, which fits nicely in the 'verse. (Linked as part of the series on AO3 now.)

Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 1300 words
Summary: In the morning Arthur's going to have to check to be sure that any of this actually happened.

A/N: In what [personal profile] xenakis and I are calling the "Schmoop Bomb" series, aka unrepentant baby fic. Takes place a few weeks after the end of Nearly Home. Written before I actually completed the IBB, but kept back until now for obvious reasons.

Inception Big Bang: Masterpost: Nearly Home

  • Feb. 13th, 2012 at 10:57 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Title: Nearly Home
Author: [personal profile] toomuchplor
Artist: [personal profile] xenakis

Rating: Explicit
Word Count: 25,000 words
Character/Pairing(s): Arthur/Eames, Dom Cobb, Yusuf, Ariadne, Original Female Characters
Warnings: Strong language, sexual content. (See above, re. "explicit"?) Domestic fic, complete with (eventual) baby. Consider yourself warned.

Summary: Ndoto haihadithiwi ~ You can’t name a dream.

- Swahili Proverb

Arthur and Eames are on the verge of giving up mind crime when Cobb convinces Arthur to be his point man on one last job — which rather inevitably goes wrong. Eames is pulled into the mess as Cobb’s simple heist spirals into an attempt on inception. It’s time to stop trespassing on the dreams of others; building a home takes two sets of hands.

Author's Notes can be found on the AO3 post for the fic.

Fic: I Want Your Psycho

  • Feb. 2nd, 2012 at 3:20 PM
toomuchplor: (arthur wtf face)
Pairing: Arthur/Eames (or, alternately, Arthur's thighs/Eames' beard)
Rating: Explicit
Length: ~7000 words
Summary: Eames would gladly welcome comparisons to other dashing bearded men, but Eames rarely gets what he wants when it comes to Arthur.

A/N: Title is from Gaga, but you all know that, don't you? Also, Xen wanted me to provide this alternate title:

"I JUST HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS (about facial hair)".

So there that is. Thanks to [personal profile] xenakis for insisting upon beard porn, and to [profile] stars_collected and [personal profile] lately for audiencing along the way too. Thanks also to [personal profile] cherrybina for posting 1,000,000 photos of JGL's amazing thighs exactly when I needed the visual inspiration.

Steinway Fic: Chantant sur le mode mineur

  • Jan. 31st, 2012 at 3:48 PM
toomuchplor: (Default)
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 12,800 words
Summary: Arthur's one of the bright lights of the conservatory, but he's sharing the stage with a star about to go supernova.

Notes: This takes place after Between the Notes, during Eames' final year at school. While I can't in all fairness label this as angst, I feel I should perhaps warn for something of an ambiguous ending, at least until I complete and post the next story in the series (which is mostly done, actually, but not quite ready for prime time.) I had planned to wait until all the big remaining story pieces were done but it occurred to me at last that this part is quite ready to go and putting it out there can only inspire me to work harder on getting the 'verse completed.

Also, Arthur is playing Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3, which is a crazily ambitious thing for a 21 year old pianist to tackle.

Steinway Fic: For a Man Like Me

  • Jan. 31st, 2012 at 8:44 AM
toomuchplor: (comic erotic novel)
Rating: PG, mostly for implied sexual content
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: 2100 words
Summary: Timing has never been a strong point for them, as a couple.

A/N: In the Steinway!verse, prompted by [personal profile] xenakis and inspired by the terribly lovely beardy photos of THard at the This Means War premiere. That being said, this fic is a failed attempt at beard porn and Xen is going to make me try again and do better next time around. So -- not!beard not!porn. Enjoy?

Title is from the Robert Louis Stevenson poem (famously set to music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and most often sung by great beardy baritones, in my experience) "The Vagabond".

For a Man Like Me (link to AO3)
toomuchplor: (Default)
Two fics, which are kind of weirdly different given that they were both written within 24 hours for the same person.

Fandom: Inception
Rating: PG (for language, really)
Pairing: Arthur/Eames
Length: ~2000 words
Summary: Art is calling for Eames, but somehow Arthur is always the one answering the door.

A/N: In Steinway!verse, set sometime after the boys get married.

And I Know It (on AO3)

Fandom: Inception/TDKR RPF
Rating: Very very very explicit? :D
Pairing: Tom/Joe
Length: 2900 words
Summary: Pillow mints are overrated anyway.

Content Notes: Barebacking first time, explicit, as well as some sort of vague sizekink and slight D/s undertones.

A/N: [personal profile] lately needed something to distract her from a boring day, so I went ahead and wrote something pretty filthy. In the Unkissed 'verse, set in the near future. Joe's done Sundance and goes to visit Tom in London. As one does. I had no idea, writing a little RPF fic back in August, that I would so enjoy revisiting the 'verse nearly half a year later. :D Title is from "The Indie Queens Are Waiting" by Dan Mangan. Thanks to [personal profile] xenakis for suggestions and hand-holding while I moaned about how I hate naming fics. Also for an interesting discussion about the word "parsimony", which does not appear in the fic below.

Rating: General
Length: 2000 words

Unkissed Fic: Slow to Start

  • Jan. 20th, 2012 at 10:09 AM
toomuchplor: (eames smoking)
Another tidied-up Twitter fic.

(A note about Unkissed fic in general -- I do intend to post the 'verse to AO3 in full eventually but the original 40K fic is still in beta. Once it's edited and ready to be posted in one shot I'll post all these other bits too.)

Fandom: Inception/TDKR RPF
Rating: PG
Pairing: Joe/Tom
Length: 700 words
Summary: It's not like Joe can say 'no' to Tom, not really.

A/N: Set in the Unkissed 'verse. Originally sort of texted in bits because [profile] stars_collected wasn't feeling well, and then tweeted in a form closer to fic because it was just so bloody cold out. Winter and illness make me write cuddling, apparently. Title from "Embraceable You". Thanks to [profile] stars_collected and [personal profile] lately for looking this over for me.
