Alice Toklas, Gertrude Stein's girlfriend, supposedly had the most amazing pot brownie recipe in history. So you could try googling that.

chocolate recipe
(edited for clarity at the butter stage)

When my friend was preparing edible pot for her aging mother, she put it into chocolate squares instead of brownies.

Use an electric, coffee-style, herb blender (upright column with mixing area on top, covered by clear dome) as it grinds the pot very finely and also contains it in a smallish area.

Melt good chocolate in a double-boiler over medium heat, stirring consistently to avoid burning.

Clarify a couple of tablespoons of butter in a small fry/sautee pan over low heat. You want to melt the butter and then keep it warm (low heat) until it stops bubbling. That drives the water out and improves consistency. (optional: filter through coffee filter.)

Add the ground pot and all the dust from the grinder to the butter - immediately turn off the heat. Enjoy the herby smell. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes for the fat-soluble (good) parts of the herb to absorb into the butter evenly. The longer you wait here, the more potent your final result. If the butter begins to solidify, return to low heat until melted again. Strain optional but recommended. Removes grittiness mentioned later.

Mix the butter/herb blend into the chocolate. Pour the chocolate onto a *plastic wrap* or *parchment paper* covered baking sheet. Foil is a mess - Do Not Use Foil! Put the entire thing into the fridge or freezer until firm. Use a knife to score it before you break it, or just break it randomly into pieces that are somewhat bigger than Scrabble tiles. Or maybe the same size if your chocolate is very thick. Store in the fridge or freezer in a ziploc bag for best handling and longevity.

I know it's not brownies, but I hope it gives you ideas of how to combine stuff. I'm not a baker, myself, but I have been assured that you can add the finished butter/herb combination to your brownie mix with good results.

I think we used about 1-2 tablespoons of ground herb (3.5-7 gm aka 1/8 to 1/4 oz) - adjust for quality and preference. We made a small cookie sheet not-quite-full of chocolate, about 3 normal size chocolate bars. Dark chocolate rules.

yes, the thing to do is really to make cannabutter, and then you can use it in any recipe that calls for butter. Banana bread is my favourite! But brownies are also great, and classic. If you just google "cannabutter," you'll come up with a recipe, but the thing is just to put finely chopped pot into butter you're melting on the stove (in a double-boiler if you have it), simmer it for as long as possible (a good half hour is not a bad idea), and then strain the pot from the butter (if you feel like straining it). If you do want to strain it, cheesecloth of the kind you can get at a paint or hardware store is the best, and ladies' nylons will work in a pinch.

EASY POTENT POT BROWNIES

You will need one box of brownie mix (I got betty crockers with real chocolate syrup)
1/2 cup vegatable oil (or whatever amount it requires on your box of brownie mix)
2 eggs (or whatever amount of eggs required on your box)
and 3/4--1 full oz of shake (any quality will do, I used average to below average quality, so keep that in mind when deciding how much you want to use...)
1 cup nuts of your choice (optional)

You will need to grind up your shake into a powder, you can use a blender and grind it, or a coffee grinder, once its a nice powder, set it aside.
Next you will need a skillet like pan or just a med size pot, put the required oil for your brownies in the pan and heat the oil on a med-low heat, add your shake powder and continue to stir it constantly for about 5-7 minutes, once it has a nice smell it's done, if it smells "hot" you might have cooked it too long, you are going for a nice, kinda nutty-toasty smell. Once you've achieved that aroma remove from heat and let cool.
Then mix all ingredients together in a mixing bowl (remember to let the oil/shake mixture cool or your eggs might turn scrambled, not yummy.)
Then in a greased, no less than 9", square pan add your mixture and bake in a preheated oven of around 325 degrees for 20-40 minutes (depending on your box of brownies).

One box of brownie mix should yeild about 18 good-sized brownies.
There you go, easy, potent brownies, which not only work, bur taste damn good! Because we turned the shake into a powder you should not be able to taste any marijuana, or get any unpleasant chunks.

Also you can put leaves in about 4 cups of butter. Let it stand below a simmer for 1 hour. The oils will mix with the thc because thc is oil saluable. Add the butter run off to your cake or cookie mix and voila!

Don't ground the leaves up though. that will add more material than you really want and further sour the taste of you recipe.

Thank you! This is pretty close to what we ended up doing. We had a recipe in the end that was a little smaller in quantity for the higher quality weed that we had. But it worked just fine!

(My whole place smells kind of...herby today. And weirdly like tropical fruit, too. Odd.)

And then, you know they take a little while to kick in...

Yes! It is very important not to get impatient after 20 minutes or so, think they're too mild, have another one and *then* have the first one hit you.

The fats in the brownie mean that everything digests quite* slowly. Give it a good 40 minutes before deciding that they're not working.

In fact, it was our habit back in the day to make *two* batches of brownies at once -- distinguished by chopped nuts or something. One batch was Special, and one was regular. That way when you got the munchies and craved brownies you didn't get an unwanted dose.

Haha...I should probably post the whole story of this sometime. Suffice it to say, we were totally patient for an hour after the first tiny brownie. Nothing. Second tiny brownie, waiting another 30 mins. Got impatient and had two more (TINY) brownies. Dear god. I was out of it. Oops.
ext_1630: Didn't make this. (sure fine whatever)

I ended up following this recipe more or less, if you need it. We had a good amount of high quality stuff so we did a smaller quantity like this recipe suggests: http://www.applesoft.com/brownies/index.html

I is curious to know just what you need the recipe for? I hope it's something simple like a new fic and not, yanno, family member w/ health issues...

Oh, it was just recreational. Not even fic-related! *g*
