UNDERMISTLETOE SWEET JESUS

  • Dec. 13th, 2007 at 10:16 AM
toomuchplor: (it's not cute being this easy)
Okay, I realize this is becoming an annual tradition for me, but sadly... my [livejournal.com profile] undermistletoe entry is due, oh, TOMORROW. And yeah...nothing. I sit and stare at the blank Word document in mute horror. Woe.

Before I flail and surrender to [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's tender mercies, I thought I would give my flist a try -- inspiration, please? I don't have huge amounts of time before midnight tomorrow but I can probably manage a decent ficlet (5000 words?) given the right idea. Last year the amazing [livejournal.com profile] beeej came to the rescue and the startlingly long The Theory of Acquired Characters was the end result -- so, see, I *can* be manipulated! *hopeful grin*

My prompt is for Harlequin Week: either Expecting His Royal Baby or Rich Man's Vengeful Seduction. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either. God! All I have is visions of terrifying mpreg.

We could do this every year! Tradition! *g* I love the Rich Man's Vengeful Seduction idea. Say, Rodney as the rich man, and John inadvertantly does something *is vague* that hurts Rodney. John is completely oblivious. Rodney sets out to seduce John with the plan that he will make him fall in love with him and then dump him out of revenge. Of course, things don't exactly work out that way, and McSheppiness happens. :D

But.. But... I like MPreg. Especially Overlord stories with the Captured Rebel reduced to childbearing concubine status.

Or even billionaire seduces ex-friend reporter intending to leave him at the altar after substituting a diatribe about past transgressions for the wedding vows -- only the tables turn and the fake sedution turns very real. But realization comes too late and the reporter learns the billionaires initial intentions. Billionaire has to eat crow.

(yes, I know these sound like SV plots, but Rodney could definitely be a billionaire and John could be the Overlord of the Pegasus Galaxy)

For Rich Man's Vengeful Seduction: Way back in undergrad, a bunch of guys got drunk one night and humiliated Rodney. Despite a successful career as an entrpreneur and genius computer programmer, Rodney never quite forgot the laughter in John Sheppard's eyes as his buddies had [insert embarrassing thing here] Rodney. So he recognized John immediately when he met him at a fundraiser years later. John, however, doesn't recognize Rodney. The two men are thrust together by some project, and Rodney notices the way John's eyes drift to his mouth when he's talking and his arms when he's working, and he forms a plan for revenge. He'll seduce John and then humiliate him in revenge. (Rodney doesn't let the facts that his seducing skills have never been that impressive and that John is slowly working his way under Rodney's skin deter him. He's stubborn like that.)

And then stuff happens and happy ending.

Ooh, I like this one. Especially the part where Rodney will NOT let his sub-par seduction skills stop him from enacting his vengeful plan, so there.

Expecting His Royal Baby -- there could be a surrogate mother involved. And jealousy because Rodney thinks John might decide to dump him for the mama of his baby (Teyla, natch.)

And John could be all "wtf are you thinking, I'm gay you moron!"

Or the other way around (why yes, I do love me some Jealous!John)!

Rich Man's Vengeful Seduction: John is the bodyguard for some rich guy who has it in for Rodney for whatever reason. He asks for John to get dirt on Rodney and at first it looks like Rodney is totally guilty and deserving of something awful, so John helps rich guy figure out the best way to get revenge is to publicly humiliate him by seducing him and then leaving him.

John becomes friends with Rodney's bodyguard (Ronon) and his personal aide (Teyla) to gather more information and realizes by hanging around with him that Rodney isn't a bad guy at all and that rich guy should really be going after someone completely different.

But plans are already in motion/rich guy doesn't buy it and so John has to come up with another plan. Ronon and Teyla try to tell Rodney what's going on but he doesn't believe him/they somehow get thwarted, so the three of them decide that John should try to seduce Rodney first before rich guy's seduction works. John awkwardly does because while rich guy is all suave and shit, John is a great big dork who appeals to Rodney's geekiness.

But then somehow Rodney finds out that Ronon and Teyla had been telling the truth and that John was in on it from the beginning and gets angry, but Ronon and Teyla say that John tried to save him by seducing him first and Rodney gets the wrong idea that it was a kind of penance/sacrifice for John and that he really never like Rodney at all and he stiffly says thank you and goodbye, and then won't take any of his calls.

John goes back to rich guy all pissed despite rich guy's sincere apology for getting it all wrong, and then other things happen and somehow there's a happily ever after.

So. Damned. Harlequin.

This one is awesome. It totally deserves to be written by someone.

Ok, I was thinking that someone (pick one, I'm good either way.) got knocked up in a suprise!Guys CAN do it too! kinda way and that the daddy babydaddy (as opposed to the gestating babydaddy, hee!) loses his damn mind and is all with the coddling and shmoopiness and eat this, don't eat that and that's not what it says in the books I got off of Amazon! Which behavior would naturally drive any sane, rational person to the very edge of daddy babydaddy homicide, fraked up pregnancy hormones not withstanding. Wackiness ensues and a baby person is had. But i like those other plot bunnies too so as long as fic gets posted where I can read it, I'm all for it. ;^)
