Should I be in a tragic or scary situation, I really seriously doubt that anyone would tell my flist about it for at least a couple of days. This isn't an invitation to panic every time I drop off the face of LJ (because god knows I do that very regularly), but just a heads-up. The three people on my flist who I speak to in RL are also RL friends (and were pre-LJ). If I were seriously ill or injured, I can bet that all three of them wouldn't even think of posting about it on LJ, at least not in the first flush of knowing. They'd all be talking to each other and to my family and they'd know that it was more important to keep in touch with the situation than to apprise the rest of the universe of it.
