Not the call to serve the lord, thankfully -- the call from Acceptable and Semi-Interesting Boy. We are meeting for coffee and jazz on Friday. I couldn't hear a lot of what he was saying on the phone -- I think it was a cell-to-cell issue -- but got tired of saying "Pardon?" so started saying "Hmm? Yeah!" until I understood the cadence of his speech and started actually catching most of what he said.

So far - ambivalence. I look upon this as a chance to practice my hetero social skills, which have been moderately stunted by years working in the arts. *nods*

Of the good:

- he likes dogs
- he has a job
- he has two nieces and two nephews and likes kids
- he called the same day as we got our 'matches' in the e-mail
- he can carry a conversation even with someone saying only "hmm, yes!" for minutes at a time

Of the interesting:

- I got the Friday slot. Either I'm the first person he called (go me) or the first to agree to a date (go...me?)
- from Victoria; I like Victoria
- he likes Karaoke but needs 'a few beers' first. He was amused that I, a supposed singer, don't do Karaoke

Of the "hmm":

- random idea haver - he seems to be somewhat excited by his own weird thoughts on subjects of money-making ventures, both for profit and fun. May be more funny than bothersome, but I'm calling it a 'hmm' at the moment
- not telling me much about himself at the moment; being chivalrously interested in me, or is he hiding his past life as a turtle fucker? Curious.
