So last year, in 2004, I wrote 40 pieces of fiction, all-told. And one of them was Omiai.

This year?

17. And 5 of them are practically drabbles.

Where did all my productivity go? Even with the monster beast that is Constellation (very nearly tipping over the 100K mark for wordage now), I wrote far far less -- Omiai was almost the exact same length when complete.

Anyway, here is the list, since it's short enough to have here in its entirety:

1. SV - Concealed (Hidden coda)
Clark/Lex, Lex's POV, episode coda.

2. SV - Everything Nice
Lex/other, Lex's POV, kink!fic.

3. SV- We Are Healed
Clark/Lex, Lex's POV, AU, future fic

4. SV - Three’s a Crowd
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, alien!Clark.

5. SV - Three Balls and a Baby
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, alien!Clark, mpreg.

6. SV - The Oak Tree and the Cypress
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, Omiai!verse, humour.

7. SV - Taking Advantage
Clark/Justin Gaines, Clark's POV, PWP, Constellation!verse.

8. SV - Import
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, PWP, fic coda.

9. SV - Priority
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, fic coda.

10. SV - Toy
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV, fic coda.

11. SV - Goosebumps
Kal-El/Lex, Lex's POV, fic coda.

12. SV - Perched on the Edge
Clark/Lex (or, more honestly, Lex/cat), Clark's POV, humour.

13. SPN - Rearview
Sam/Dean, Sam's POV, wincest.

14. Newsies - New York World
Jack/David, David's POV.

15. SV - Carte Blanche
Chloe/Lex/Clark, Chloe's POV, threesome, future fic.

16. SV - Into the Sun (All American Universe)
Clark/Lex, Clark's POV.

17. SV - The Simplicity of Skin
Clark/Lex, Lex's POV, PWP.

SV: 15
Other: 2
Total: 17

My favorite: I had to spend five minutes perusing that short little list to come to a decision. Either my writing quality has slipped or I'm just becoming more self-critical, because I have issues with almost everything I've written this year. But I'm going to go with Goosebumps. I am a total whore for Kal-El (as is Lex) -- I find him way too hilarious and could probably create a series of mystery novels written from his POV.

My best: Oy, again with the issues! Okay, I'm gonna say Into the Sun, because even though it angered and horrified my flist and posting it might have been a mistake, it's by far the most polished thing I wrote this year. Which is ironic, since I actually wrote it last year. I just didn't post it until this year.

Story most underappreciated by the universe, in my opinion: New York World. Come on, people, it's Newsies slash! *tumbleweed*

Most fun story: Three Balls and a Baby. Hands down. It's freaking mpreg. It has a Clark!bot that cannot climb stairs, and Lex feeding certs to a swooning Clark.

Sexiest story: I actually wrote a lot of smut this year, far more than ever before, so this is a tricky one. I'll go with We Are Healed. For all its narrative problems, it's nearly anonymous Clark/Lex sex in a bathroom stall with Lex being aggressive and hot and Clark being repressed and desperate. I like that.

Story with single sexiest moment: From Carte Blanche:

Eventually they forgot what had brought them together, because eventually they were eating take-out in their underwear (in Milan) and laughing about each other’s foibles. “Marry me,” he said, pushing one hand between her legs and shifting aside her red panties because he always resented her clothing. And his fingers parted her, and his mouth closed on her breast, and Chloe’s hand cradled the base of Lex’s skull, and she said yes.

This story is practically a PWP, so it's difficult to say why I love this moment so much -- it's almost shorthand sex, no details but the psychological ones. But I have a perfect image of Lex, a perfect sense of him hating Chloe's clothes because he wants to own her, and they're in the way. Fingers are so interesting because they're invasive and impersonal and yet immediate, unavoidable -- attached somehow more directly to the mind of the person doing the fingering than a cock or any other body part. And whenever one of my characters cradles the base of his/her partner's skull? That's shorthand for an almost maternal protectiveness. Add to that Lex's mouth on Chloe's breast, and you've got a double whammy of maternal vibes. So -- for me, anyway -- this scene reads "Lex is determined to make Chloe his plaything, to conquer her. And Chloe sees through him, sees the fear of that need, and shelters Lex's vulnerability." Oddly hot.

Hardest story to write: The Oak Tree and the Cypress. I have several false starts to this fic which may surface during WIP amnesty, and generally, the more text I cut out, the more difficult the piece was.

Most unintentionally telling story: Taking Advantage. Clark and Justin want to get together in Constellation (as do Chloe and Lex, BTW) and I'm going to have to resort to violence to keep it from happening at this point. [/hint]
