Poll time!

So I'm working towards posting my long-ass fic and I haven't posted anything quite this monumental for 6 years so I wanted to know what you young hip youthful types think when it comes to posting formats for long fic, and for fic in general.  Results will probably inform my decision of where/how to post said long-ass fic in the near future.  Uh, and the 'in parts' thing -- I do mean parts of a completed fic all at once, not installments -- so I'm not talking about posting a section a day or anything insane like that.  WHO DOES THAT, ANYWAY?  (*glares at young hip youthful self from 6 years ago*)[Poll #1618432]

I like AO3 or DW, but LJ has such a short character limit on pages that it bugs the heck out of me. I'm pro all-one-page, but for a fic that long, I'll live if I have to read it on multiple pages.

Helpful?

Very helpful! I'm totally dating myself by saying this, but when I started writing fic lots and lots of fen were still on dial-up so posting fic in several shorter parts was the polite thing to do so they didn't have to wait ten years to load a single page. I guess that's probably a small minority nowadays.

...when I started reading fic, most fen were still on dial-up. I don't think you're too dated.

I never really thought about it! I got my fic through email, so it was kind of a load-all-at-once situation!

LOL. And I had high-speed from very early on (2001, I think) so I didn't even really know what the dial-up folks were on about. Anyway, I guess it's probably not a big consideration on a page that's only 300K these days.

Wow, that is indeed early. I didn't get off dialup until...probably 2005? Tbh, it might have been later than that. It definitely wasn't earlier.

Probably true. I think, at this point very, very few people are on dial-up.
