Halp.

Oh, flist, I am having one of those itchy restless days where you can't settle to a single task and yet you feel like you want to do *something*. I haven't written a word in months but I'm wondering if I might have a story in me that's causing this annoying sensation. Prompt me? I'll do my best.

p.s. Europe was lovely, saw lots of [livejournal.com profile] sparktastic, and am happy to be at home again. Except for the restless bit.

Are you taking prompts for any particular fandom? I came across your stuff through SGA, but I don't know if you're still working with those characters.

Hmmm - how about, what would happen if the magical insta-language translator that mysteriously works for the gates suddenly failed? I remember one short story from someone that touched on this idea, but it's something I'd really like explored in depth.

Oh yes, I'm definitely still in SGA mode -- that is, as much as I'm in ANY mode after a writing hiatus of 6 months!

I remember the fic you're referencing, by [livejournal.com profile] trinityofone. It's a good topic because I've always felt that TPTB missed out on a lot by going the easy sci-fi route and making everyone speak English, but I confess that I tend to do as they do and pretend that it doesn't pose any difficulty b/c I can't come up with a plausible device to make it make SENSE. It'd be kind of awesome if SG teams returned to Earth with the ability to understand and speak ALL languages, though, huh? Like, suddenly, Rodney is conversing in clicks with a Xhosa and Keller is fluent in Cantonese?

Hrm, might be something in there... Thanks for the thoughts!
