Steinway Sticky Post

Because it's getting increasingly difficult to track everything in this expanding 'verse, I thought I'd make a single sticky post that gets updated as I post new stories. Here you will find links to the Steinway!Verse fics in all their various places.

You can read the Steinway!Verse in two ways, and currently it doesn't matter which order you choose.  Both make sense and each has been expressed as a preference by various people.

Uh, and in case anyone isn't aware, LJ = Livejournal, DW = Dreamwidth, and AO3 = Archive of Our Own

In the order the stories were posted (but not chronological in the 'verse):
  • Under the Steinway (DW | AO3) - not on LJ as it was a comment fic posted to DW
  • Fever Pitch (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • What Need (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Ach, des Knaben Augen (DW | AO3 | Podfic ) - not on LJ due to the story length
  • Reach Out (and Touch Someone) (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Between the Notes (DW | AO3) - not on LJ due to the story length
  • First, Do No Harm (LJDW | AO3)
  • Er, der Herrlichste von Allen (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Whither Thou Goest (DW | AO3) - not on LJ due to the story length
  • Irresistible You (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Soft the Drowsy Hours (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Je te veux (AO3) - only on AO3 at this time due to story format
  • An die ferne Geliebte (LJ | DWAO3)
  • Where You At (AO3)
  • And I Know It (LJ | DWAO3)
  • For a Man Like Me (AO3)
  • Chantant sur le mode mineur (AO3)
  • Return to Nestle Here (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • Gradus ad Parnassum (LJ | DW | AO3)
  • I Will Forget the Light (DW | AO3) - not on LJ due to the story length
  • Du bist die Ruh (DW | AO3) - not on LJ due to the story length
  • Die Glücklichen (AO3) - not on DW/LJ yet; working on it.
  • Yet What I Can I Give Him (AO3) - not on DW/LJ yet; working on it.
  • All we like sheep (have gone astray) (AO3) - not on DW/LJ yet; working on it.
  • Wer reitet so spät (AO3) - not on DW/LJ yet; working on it.
  • Il est bon, l'enfant (AO3)
  • Comme à Pétrarque apparaissait Laura (AO3)
  • Deh, vieni, non tardar (AO3)
  • Glaub' ich blind zu sein (AO3)

Oh my god, I didn't even know this existed! I just went and read the whole thing.
This is my absolutely favorite kind of story. I want to wear it like a leather trench coat. :-D

This is seriously one of the best AU in this fandom! I am so in love with this whole series. The descriptions and all of the relationships portrayed are written so deftly, and the emotions feel real. The music linked is great too. I for one cannot WAIT to see you add more to this verse! Especially the time period between Whither Thou Goest and Under the Steinway.

I've read some of the installments before but yesterday I found this masterpost (because I was thinking of this story) and OMG I finally managed to read the whole thing in order. Needlessly to say that I am utterly and truly in love with this. Your style is wonderful and this non sequitur way of story telling is my favourite (there should be more movies and books in that way) because I'm a huge fan of hints, secrets and stories untold. Your characterisations (OCs included) is excellent and realistic.
So I'm really looking forward to the next installments - especially after Whither Thou Goest, because how will they get back together and how the fuck did they break up in first place (I loved all the things you implied so far because the reader kind of feels and knows what happened but you leave to many things unsaid GREAT!) and when did they get married (or didn't they...). But what I enjoyed most about Whither Thou Goest is how all the relationships progressed (Mal's role as not quite the teacher anymore but acutally a true friends for both of them).

I will stop babbling now! ;)

Oh man. As both a choral singer and a pianist, can I just say that this is the best thing EVER? And that's aside from how brilliantly and wonderfully you've written the emotions, and the characterizations, and just the day to day life stuff. I'm totally in awe, and I can't wait for more. <3

these are amazing! i am a bit confused about the order though. i read them in chronological order, but it seemed like everything listed after Whither Thou Goest takes place before the events of Whither Thou Goest. when will we see a happy ending!?

oh my god im only halfway through the verse but this is definitely one of the best things i've read in the fandom. and i've definitely never laughed as hard at a fic in this fandom than i did in 'between the notes'. so perfect. NEVER STOP WRITING

so i just spent all afternoon reading this lovely lovely verse. it's beautifully written, hot, and so wonderfully in-character. the world is fleshed out in so much detail, it's amazing. i felt like both your arthur and eames really came alive for me. thanks for writing!

also i was so tickled by all the little details from going to college around 2000, 2001. icq. the hampsterdance. that totally cracked me up because i had not thought about that in years. lol.

I just spent an utterly engrossing few hours with this 'verse, and I was so charmed and moved by it, I can barely describe it; the characterization of Arthur and Eames and they way they fit together, the wonderful detail and obvious love with which you describe the music, and the brilliance with which you sketched the supporting characters (oh, Mal...) just blew me away. I very much look forward to anything you might add to this 'verse in the future.

Brava!

Just read Ach, des Knaben Augen. As a pianist myself(nowhere on Arthur's level), I ADORED all your technical details and the way you describe how Arthur interacts with the music. Are you a musician?
And of course the story itself was just amazing.

Hello! I've been inhaling this 'verse over the past 24 hours (made my insomnia seem less of a pain!) and just wanted to tell you how much I've been enjoying it, and how utterly absorbing it is. I was thrilled to see it was updated as recently as last week, and can't wait to read more.

Interesting

Let me tell you a Story about the Steinwayverse, shall I? In spring of 2010 little old American me left her London study abroad program to travel to Spain all alone for ten days. It was fucking great because for once I didn't have to let my fellow classmates drag me down and away from the amazing art museums everywhere because they wanted to go shopping, or shame me for being giddy over Gaudi or trivialize works like Guernica. I went to wonderful places in that country and saw wonderful things in a very personal, private way that's mine, just mine, forever.

What isn't so great is a lot of long train/bus/trolley/metro/cable car trips to get to all the wonderful places with the wonderful things I was there to see. However, being the industrious fangirl I am, I of course had my ipod laden with podfic on to of the usual audiobooks, podcasts and music and one of those podfic was Ach, des Knaben Augen read by the incomparable Penny. She has a magnificent voice and the story is captivating and the music would appear between segments as I was traversing the cityscapes of Barcelona that I had one perfect afternoon out of my head. When I got back to my hostel I got online and tracked down the rest of the verse. I'm sitting in the top bunk of this techno-pop themed hostel I picked out of a hat basically and holy shit there are fourteen more stories! Yay! Twas before tablets were affordable so I loaded all 14 other stories onto my tiny little ipod touch and red them on the commutes in lieu of having someone to talk to. I had the Steinway group instead. Have you tried to read on an iPod Touch on a moving subway train filled with people who don't speak your language? It's unwise. It was totally freaking worth it, argh I loved your world and everyone in it so much.

Then I got to the last few stories which at the time were Wither Thou Goest and Soft Drowsy Hours. Needless to say Confused Cat was confused and kind of wounded? Because what the fuck? Who the fuck is Daniel and what is he doing in my story and what the hell? Nothing is beautiful and everything hurts and I am confused by this timeline. I nursed my wounds with Kevin Smith's Smodcast and sort of forgot about Steinwayverse in everything but theory because other fandoms overwhelmed my Inception obsession. Fast foreward to about three months ago, I started getting REALLY into podfic fandom again. I start in fandoms I'm active in and now, in January I've migrated back to Inception and what's this? Another Steinwayverse podcast? Holy shit is that more than a dozen new stories? Oh my god, it is.

So, starting now, I'm starting over at the very beginning and I'm only about 40 minutes into the podfic but I wanted to tell you because it took me back 3 years to when I was younger and different and much farther away and let you know that I may not remember comment again but that I'll be reading this, probably for days, and enjoying it all.
